Melfried Olson works at the Curriculum Research & Development Group at the University of Hawaii on curriculum development, formative assessment in a networked classroom, and communication between parents and children when working on mathematical tasks. He has extensive work in mathematics education involving teacher preparation and K - 12 professional development. In his recent work with Math in a Cultural Context he is focusing on developing curriculum materials embodied in sophisticated pragmatic mathematics from indigenous culture.
