Marty attended Michigan State, graduating with a degree in Math Education from the Academic Learning Program in 1988. He taught 7-12 grade math and physics in San Diego, CA for before returning to mid-Michigan to attend graduate school at MSU. Marty started working part time at Holt High School while attending grad school. Completing a Master degree in teaching and curriculum in 1994, Marty continued to work at Holt as a full time math teacher. During his time at Holt, Marty has worked on several NSF-funded research projects, authored and co-authored papers relating to Calculus and Algebra instruction. In recent years, he has twice attended the Park City Math Institute which has kindled an interest in probability. He currently teaches AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and a Data Analysis course at Holt’s new 12-grade campus.
